MEETING WITH RUSSIAN HISTORIAN HELD IN AZERBAIJAN INSTITUTE OF HISTORY

Meeting with Russian historian, author of book “Defense of Bayazit: truth and invention”, professor Rudolf Ivanov was held in the Institute of History after A. Bakikhanov of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

Speaking at the event, Director of the Institute, member of Milli Majlis, professor Yagub Mahmudov expressed his gratitude to President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, member of Milli Majlis Mehriban Khanim Aliyeva for invitation of Rudolf Ivanov to Azerbaijan.

He also spoke of the scientific-research activity of the invited guest, noting that his book “Defense of Bayazit: truth and invention” narrates of the Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878.

“Defense of Bayazit is bound up with Azerbaijani General Ismayil Khan Nakhchivanski. The fact was misrepresented earlier, but things are real in Rudolf Ivanov’s book”, Yagub Mahmudov added.

Speaking Member of Parliament, publicist Elmira Akhundova said books of Rudolf Ivanov are of great importance for Azerbaijan.

For his part, professor Rudolf Ivanov expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and thanked the gathered for hearty welcome.

He said he intended writing a book about the Nakhchivan khans.

At the end of the event, the participants exchanged their views on the wide range of questions.
