MoU on TASIM project signed in Baku
Baku, December 3 (AZERTAC). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) project has been signed in Baku on the sidelines of BakuTel 2013, 19th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition.
The MoU was signed by Russia (Rostelecom), Kazakhstan (KazTransCom), Turkey (TurkTelecom) and China (ChinaTelecom), as well as Azerbaijani International Relations and Accounting Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.
The document is intended to outline the further implementation of the project and define the powers and roles of the participants, their financial costs and legal status.
Congratulating the operators of TASIM, Azerbaijani minister of communications and information technologies Ali Abbasov hailed the role of the project in digital development.

The TASIM project includes creation of the main transit link from Frankfurt to Hong Kong. The network, which will bring together the largest information exchange centres in Europe and Asia, will stretch across Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, China, and Kazakhstan till Germany. The alternative northern transit line will be constructed on the territory of Russia, Ukraine and Poland.
The project is aimed at reducing poverty and accelerating economic growth. It may also play a leading role in the region's development.
The TASIM project is meant to connect 20 countries. Its realisation will allow eliminating the 'information gap' between Western Europe and countries of the Pacific Basin.
