NATIONAL HOLIDAY OF LATVIA MARKED IN BAKU
Embassy of Latvia in Azerbaijan organized an official reception on the occasion of 89th anniversary of the country’s national holiday - Independence Day, at the “Park INN Azerbaijan” hotel in Baku, 23 November.
Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan Mihail Popkovs spoke of the historical path his country passed during 89 years, marking significant accomplishments reached in economic, cultural and other fields.
The Latvian popular musicians and national ensemble especially arrived from Latvia, admired the audience.
First Vice-Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Republic Ziafet Askarov congratulated the Latvian people on behalf of the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev. He, in particular, informed on the bilateral relations between the two countries, noting that 20 documents the countries have signed ensure cooperation in numerous fields. Speaking of the role of Latvia in delivery of the energy careers to the Western markets, Mr. Askarov said the parliamentarians of both countries have close contacts at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Ministers, Members of Parliament, foreign ambassadors, representatives of international organizations accredited in Baku, public figures took part at the reception.
