NATO APPROVES IPAP SECOND PHASE
NATO has approved the second phase of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) Azerbaijan carried out with the alliance on March 7, 2008, said Khazar Ibrahim, press secreatry of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
The first charter of the document called “Political and security issues” includes developing documents on foregin policy strategy, military doctrine, national conseption on managing crisis situations and national maritime security strategy, as well as consultations with NATO on Azerbaijan’s security policy.
The charter called “Defence and military issues” includes military training, impoving personnel, increasing capacities of naval forces, involving civil specialists in the Ministry of Defence, material and technical supplies, bringing Azerbaijani armed forces up to NATO standards.
The charter called “Public information, civil emergency planning, science and environment” includes clearing unexploded ordnance in Agstafa district in Azerbaijan within the NATO Trust Fund Project, drawing up public information strategy on Euro-Atlantic integration, holding “NATO weeks”, developing NATO International School in Azerbaijan, setting up Euro-Atlantic centers.
The fourth charter called “Administrative issues, information security, recources and legal issues” includes strengthening information security, building safe communication systems, training personnel for various aspects of information security.
