NO GROUND FOR “ORANGE REVOLUTIONS” IN AZERBAIJAN
He has stated: “In Azerbaijan, there is no ground for “orange revolutions”. As he said, unlike some states where similar revolutions took place where its had preconditions connected to heavy economic situation of these countries, Azerbaijan, as is known, has made today significant jerk in development of the economy - economic parameters and increase of well-being of people testify to it.
R. Rizayev also has told that in spite of the fact that estimations of the international observers in some cases differ, all of them nevertheless recognize, that as a whole, elections have passed normally. He has emphasized that the President of Azerbaijan has undertaken all necessary steps for carrying out of free and transparent elections, and the authority has adequately reacted to infringements having place during elections to parliament, has accepted drastic measures. Image of Azerbaijan, the ambassador has noted, its authority became even higher during this political event.
Answering questions of journalists, the ambassador has subjected to sharp criticism xenophobic statements of some Russian politicians, their attempts to encourage inter-ethnic discord in Russia. In particular, he has subjected to sharp criticism activity of the leader of the party of Dmitry Rogozin, “Otechestvo”, who called “to clear Russia from illegals”. The Ambassador said similar statements are groundless and harmful first of all to the Russia. “Russia has reputation as the tolerant country, and some “democrats” do cheap PR- methods for election in the Moscow State Duma that can entail unpredictable events. Such actions are directed against the Russia. This question worries all diplomatic corps accredited in Russia, and he is going to declare the position on the given question. I, as the dean diplomatic corps, have initiated to discuss it with the purpose to assist authorities of Russia. And, it is necessary to tell, that the management of Russia unequivocally condemns any displays of nationalism and xenophobia”, emphasized R. Rizaev.
Concerning settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the ambassador informed that in the settlement there is progress, though it goes slowly, as a whole it moves ahead.
Making comments on the question on possible attraction of peace-making forces of the NATO to settlement of the Karabakh conflict and possible protection of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline the armies of the NATO, R. Rizayev said attraction of peace-making forces of the NATO to settlement of the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh is not expedient and that these forces should be determined by the United Nations or OSCE.
R. Rizayev informed that Baku, as a whole, positively concern to the initiative of Moscow to create on the Caspian multinational forces “Kasfor to combat against terrorist threat and problems of distribution of the mass destruction weapons.
The diplomat also has expressed negative attitude of official Baku to plans of deploying in Armenia of a part of the Russian military bases removed from Georgia, having noted that it can have a negative impact on prospects of settlement of then Nagorno Karabakh problem.
