PABSEC Secretary General: Promoting peace, reconciliation, and cooperation through action is crucial

“The Black Sea region is important not only in terms of economic cooperation and security, but also as a meeting point of cultures. It is a unique region where peoples of various nationalities, languages, religions, and cultures live together in peace,” said Asaf Hajiyev, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (PABSEC), at the opening ceremony of the PABSEC 65th plenary session.
“We are proud to live in a multicultural and multi-religious region. This diversity is one of our most valuable assets. It is not only a legacy of the past, but also the key to our future. The Black Sea region represents a rich cultural palette that blends elements of Turkic, Slavic, Balkan, Southern European, and Latin traditions,” he said.
“It is on this rich cultural heritage that we can build our future. This heritage not only reminds us of who we are, but also helps us determine where we are going. We have a responsibility to preserve it and pass it on to future generations,” Asaf Hajiyev emphasized.
He emphasized that promoting peace, reconciliation, and cooperation must be done through concrete action.
