The President and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the foundation stone ceremony of an Olympic sports complex in Maraza settlement.
The Head of State was informed that the complex to be ready next year will occupy an area of five hectares and will have a 934-seat sport hall, pool, hotel, 2000-seat stadium, as well as mini-football, volleyball and basketball grounds.
President Aliyev laid a foundation of the building by putting a time capsule into the foundation, and covering it with liquid concrete.
He then had a conversation with constructors and athletes.
Ilham Aliyev congratulated them on the opening of the complex.
The President stressed the government will continue paying attention to development of sport in the country.
