PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV: AZERBAIJAN`S MONETARY RESERVES AMOUNT TO $9 BLN
“We are increasing our monetary reserves,” President Ilham Aliyev said at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers devoted to the first quarter 2008 results of the socio-economic development.
According to him, the country`s monetary reserves amount to $9 billion.
“A large increase is expected this year due to successful implementation of the oil strategy. It gives us strength, confidence and possibilities to push ahead with our independent policy and defend national interests of the people of Azerbaijan”
Tackling social problems is primarily depends on our economic capabilities, which were not sufficient 5-10 years ago to implement social programs, the President stressed. Due to the economic growth, ongoing economic and political reforms, liberal policy, there are good opportunities to implement social programs.
The Head of State stressed the need to increase minimum wages and pensions and strengthen social security of people working in budget-funded organizations.
