PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV CONGRATULATES JEWISH COMMUNITY OF AZERBAIJAN ON ROSH HASHANAH
President Ilham Aliyev has sent a message of greetings to the Jewish Community of Azerbaijan on Rosh Hashanah holiday (Jewish New Year).
“The Azerbaijani society with its traditional friendship and brotherhood and ethnic and religious tolerance among different nations is our historical achievement,” the message says.
“All the nations of our country, including the Jewish community, have always lived here in peace, and without having been subjected to any form of discrimination, have managed to safeguard their national and cultural originality.”
“The independent State of Azerbaijan remains committed to its progressive historical traditions, and in accordance with contemporary democratic principles, considers protection of human rights of ethnic minorities, their languages and culture as one of the priorities of its public policy.”
“Historically living in Azerbaijan, the Jewish community today is an integral part of our society. It is with pleasure that I would like to note that our Jewish citizens are actively involved in the historically important socio-political processes taking place in our republic.”
