PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV EXTENDS RAMADAN GREETINGS TO NATION
President Ilham Aliyev extended Ramadan greetings to the people of Azerbaijan on Thursday. He said:
“Dear fellow countrymen,
I extend my cordial congratulation and best wishes to all of you on the Holy Ramadan.
The blessed month of Ramadan, in which the holy book of all Muslims, the Koran, was revealed, calls people for unity in the name of good intentions, grants them happiness with moral purity and wealth and spiritual and physical perfection, and demonstrates the triumph of spiritual elevation over desires.
Over whole history, our people have worshiped the Most High, always remaining committed to their national roots and religious and spiritual traditions. Return in the years of independence to the progressive Islamic values served elevation of our society and unity and integrity of the people. The high patriotism of the sons of Azerbaijan with their inherent firm spirit of struggle in the name of strengthening our state independence, is an example of their commitment to such national and spiritual values.
On these holy days, I once again pay tribute to the bright memory of the brave sons of Azerbaijan, who sacrificed their lives for independence of our country and liberation of our lands. May Allah rest their souls in peace.
Dear brothers and sisters,
You are completing the days of the blessed Ramadan with the sense of deep satisfaction and boundless happiness. I believe that thanks to your noble deeds in the name of our holy religion, prayers for peace and progress in Azerbaijan, the Most High will not deprive our people of his mercy.
On this dear holy day, I once again extend to you, your families and our compatriots living abroad my congratulations and best wishes for welfare, prosperity and happiness.
May Allah accept you fasting!”
