PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV INAUGURATES NEW BUILDING OF AZERBAIJAN STATE ECONOMIC UNIVERSITY

The Head of State cut the red ribbon symbolizing the opening of the new building, saw the bust to national leader Heydar Aliyev and became familiar with the new innovation model of the economic education.
The total area of the eight-storey building is 5 thousand square meters. It has 41 lecture halls as well as educational and methodical lab, conference room, canteen and up-to-date library and information center.
Azerbaijani leader participated in an interactive videoconference involving the Moscow State University, Turkey’s Bilkent University and Azerbaijan Technology University in Ganja.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev visited the “Library-Information Center” lab, which is the joint ASEU-FUJITSU-SIEMENS-PRO-NET project. Such projects provide opportunities for students to translate their knowledge into practical skills. The tax education model is mainly applied here. This model realized together with the Tax Ministry is used to improve proficiency and upgrade qualifications of the students at bachelor’s and master’s levels as well as employees of tax bodies.
The President also got acquainted with the training lab of Azerfon LLC, mobile operator, which is implementing the career development project together with the Economic University. Under the project, local and foreign experts will conduct trainings for students at the well-equipped lab.
President Ilham Aliyev inspected the virtual bank education laboratory. It allows checking how well the students put their knowledge into practice, and helps them to start their career after graduating from the university.
The ASEU has acquired plenty of new books. Some 50 textbooks have been translated into Azerbaijani with the assistance of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and over 120 new text books and teaching aids have been prepared.
President Ilham Aliyev examined the textbooks as well as cups and medals gained by the athletes from the ASEU. He met with famous athletes studying here. The Head of State presented the graduation diploma to the World and Olympic wrestling champion Farid Mansurov.
The library information center, which is the joint project of the ASEU and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, is very useful for students. President was informed that the catalogue of the library allows getting information about the publications on economics, politics, sociology and education. It is possible to link with the world’s libraries via the e-library.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev made remarks at the solemn ceremony.
