PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES VICE-PRIME MINISTER OF RUSSIA
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on 31 August received Vice-Prime Minister of Russia, Chief of Staff for the Cabinet of Ministers Sergey Naryshkin.
Noting dynamic development of political and economic relations of the two countries, the Head of Azerbaijani State expressed confidence that current visit of the Vice-Premier of Government of the Russian Federation would give new impetus to further development of cooperation. President of Azerbaijan expressed hope for closer cooperation of members of the intergovernmental Commission to accelerate economic integration.
“Now, we are at high level for commodity turnover” the President stressed. “Dynamics of last years is also positive, joint projects are being realized. All these base on firm political relations”.
“We are neighbors and this is an important factor for bilateral relations. On the other side, wide spectrum of questions with bilateral format. Perhaps, this goes beyond bilateral format, so, it covers regional problems, strengthening of regional security, the issues of regional cooperation. From this standpoint, many depend on activity of Russia and Azerbaijan in the Caucasus. In a word, we are going to continue this active co-op and I am sure, from this standpoint your visit will play important role”, President of Azerbaijan emphasized.
Expressing pleasure with his first visit to Baku, Vice-Prime Minister of Russia reminded that he has visited Alley of Honors in Baku to pay tribute to the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev. At his words, Mr. Narishkin has been appointed a new Russian co-chair of the Russian-Azeri Intergovernmental commission and will make every effort to enrich the Commission’s work. Sergey Narishkin updated President Aliyev on his meetings and discussed questions with the Azeri colleagues in May in Moscow. Next meeting of the Commission will be in mid-November current year in Moscow, he stated.
