PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ATTENDED VILNIUS CONFERENCE ON ENERGY SECURITY
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the Vilnius Energy Security Conference - 2007:”Responsible Energy for Responsible Partners”, October 10.
During the 2-day conference, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Center of Strategic Researches and the US Hudson Institute, it is planned to discuss the questions connected to the problems of world security in the field of energy and the foreign policy priorities of the European Union in energy sphere. Participants of the forum also will consider the issues of Trans-Atlantic energy dialogue, cooperation of EU with Russia, the regions of Caspian and Black Sea in the energy field, as well as development of energy strategy of the Baltic.
In the framework of conference, a specialized forum of the energy institutions and energy experts on the topic “Energy Security: supply, demand and diversification” was held.
On completion of the first day of Conference, with participation of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Ukraine Victor Yuschenko, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, President of Poland Lech Kachinsky, minister of energy and material resources of Kazakhstan Sauat Mynbayev, were signed multilateral documents.
Energy ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed the Agreement on cooperation in the energy sphere. Heads of oil companies of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed the Agreement on creation of interstate association with limited responsibility “Sarmatia”.
Then, the heads of state held a news conference to make statement for media representatives, answered questions of journalists.

The same day, on behalf of the Lithuanian President, an official banquet was arranged in honor of participants of the Conference.
