PRESIDENTS OF AZERBAIJAN AND CROATIA GIVE JOINT PRESS CONFERENCE
After the ceremony of signing intergovernmental documents between Azerbaijan and Croatia, Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Stjepan Mesic gave a joint press conference.
The Azerbaijani leader noted in his statement that with his Croatian counterpart they discussed bilateral, regional and international issues.
“The documents signed today - both economic agreements and the joint statement - are of great importance for our two countries,” President Ilham Aliyev said adding that the statement expresses the two leaders’ political intentions.
“Croatia and Azerbaijan are successfully pursuing the policy of integration into the EuroAtlantic structures. At the same time, the joint statement points to ways of settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict - the biggest threat to the region - and emphasizes that it must be solved on the base of countries’ territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.”
Touching on tomorrow’s Croatia-Azerbaijan business forum, the Azerbaijani President expressed confidence that it will be a success giving new momentum to economic cooperation between the two countries.
Croatian leader Stjepan Mesic in his statement noted that economic cooperation is a key to expansion of bilateral relations. “We agreed that current economic cooperation is not at a desirable level if to keep in mind the existing possibilities and interests of the two countries,” he said.
President Mesic also expressed the two leaders` common opinion about their countries’ cooperation in international organizations. “We fully share the opinion that all possible threats, crises and unsolved problems must be settled on the base of the principles enshrined in the international law, UN Charter and resolutions of other international organizations,” he said.
After that, the two Presidents responded to questions from journalists.
