PRESIDENTS OF AZERBAIJAN AND LATVIA TALK IN PRIVATE
Presidents of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had a one-on-one meeting with visiting President of Latvia Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga on October 3. The Azerbaijani leader said he was pleased to welcome his Latvian counterpart in Baku expressing hope this visit would open new opportunities for expanding of the Azerbaijan-Latvia relationship. Latvian President Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the invitation to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan describing it as historical event. She said this visit would foster cooperation between the two countries adding Latvia will continue to support Azerbaijan in its integration into Europe. Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mrs. Vaira Vike-Freiberga emphasized her country stood for its resolution on the base of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The parties have also discussed issues related international security, ways of solution to regional conflicts, as well as exchanged views on the prospects of the Azerbaijan-Latvia relationship.
