RUSSIAN-AMERICAN CONSULTATIONS ON COMBAT AGAINST TERRORISM
To carry out discussions on the problem of terrorism, to Moscow there has arrived the first assistant to the US State Secretary, the representative of the American part of working group on combat against terrorism Mr. Richard Armitage.
At the meeting taken place in the Kremlin, the Secretary of Security Council of Russia Igor Ivanov and the first assistant to the US State Secretary Richard Armitage ascertained necessity of continuation of active work of the Russian-American working group in the field of combat against terrorism. The parties have noted, that interaction between two countries is based on strategic ground, and as has noted R. Armitage, “our interaction does not depend on the one who is in management of the country”. He also has emphasized, that any country did not suffer so strongly from terrorism as Russia, and has told that it is necessary to undertake regular measures to relieve mankind from this terrible evil.
I. Ivanov has stated that today the questions connected to coordination of the international and bilateral efforts in combat against terrorism and other threats have exclusively great value for national safety of Russia, the USA and the whole world.
