Sankei Shimbun highlights TANAP project
Tokyo, March 10 (AZERTAC). Japanese Sankei Shimbun newspaper has posted an article about the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline project (TANAP) on its website. The article says that TANAP intends for the transportation of the natural gas to be produced in Shahdeniz-2 field and other fields of Azerbaijan (and other possible neighboring countries) through Turkey to Europe. The newspaper notes that participants in the project are Azerbaijani and Turkish companies as well as BP. The article says that Azerbaijan`s state oil firm, SOCAR, and BP plan to invest 28 billion US dollars in the Shahdeniz-2 field that will supply TANAP with gas. The article says firs gas from the field will be achieved in 2018, and from 2019 it will be exported to Europe.
The article also says that Azerbaijan`s gas reserves at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field are estimated at 350 billion cubic meters. The newspaper says Japanese Itochu and Inpex corporations are interested in this field.
The article says a total of 45 billion US dollars will be invested in Shahdeniz-2, TANAP and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) projects, which will play a critical role in ensuring Europe`s energy security. The newspaper says Japanese companies will be actively involved in the projects.
