SECOND “GUAM + JAPAN” MEETING HELD IN TOKYO
The second “GUAM + Japan” meeting was held in Tokyo December 4-6, Azerbaijan`s Embassy in the Japanese capital said.
GUAM delegation at the consultations was headed by Director of the Foreign Policy Planning and Strategic Studies Department at the Azeri Foreign Affairs Ministry Tofig Musayev, and included Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nikoloz Vashakidze, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Veselovsky and Secretary General of GUAM Valeri Chechelashvili.
On the Japanese side the consultations were attended by Foreign Minister Masahiko Koumura, Deputy Foreign Minister Masakatsu Koike and the Foreign Minister`s special representative for GUAM affairs Keiichi Katakami.
During the consultations, the sides stressed the importance of continuing “GUAM +Japan” meetings.
They discussed ways of boosting trade, tourism, energy and transport relations between Japan and GUAM member countries.
The Japanese officials reiterated their country will continue supporting democratic processes and the strengthening of market economy in GUAM member countries.
Following the consultations, the GUAM delegation gave a press conference at the Japanese National Press Club.
