SIC OBSERVERS HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE
After the close of the polls, observers from the Commonwealth of the Independent States held a press conference. They noted 2 million 183 thousand 913 voters or 48,83 percent of voters had cast ballots by 19.00. According to members of the Ukrainian Central Electoral Commission Mikhail Akhentovski described the election process as well-organized and meeting international standards. “We practically have no censorious remarks to make regarding the process we had seen today,” he said. He added the highest turnout was witnessed in the district, over which the first lady of Azerbaijan Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva was nominated. “We were present at both opening and closing of the polling stations, and can say all the electoral procedures were strictly followed,” the SIC observers said adding that these elections will go down in history as the most peaceful and well-organized.
