SOCAR leadership visits Romania
Bucharest, December 16 (AZERTAC). SOCAR Vice-President of refining David Mammadov and Head of the Observation Council of the SOCAR`s Production Association “Azerkimya” Mukhtar Babayev visited Romania on Monday.
The SOCAR delegation met Romanian Secretary of the State at the Ministry of Economy Mihai Adrian Albulescu and Minister of Economy Andrei Dominic Gerea as part of the visit.
Romanian Economy Minister Andrei Dominic Gerea informed the SOCAR delegation on the country’s oil sector, saying “Oltchim” Chemical Plant is a part of the State’s privatization policy.
The Minister noted the Romanian Government seeks a strategic partner for the privatization of the “Oltchim” S.A.
The Romanian Minister thanked the Azerbaijani Government for the cooperation started with the opening of the SOCAR`s Romania office, as well as the country`s investments in Romania.
Andrei Dominic Gerea especially praised SOCAR Director of Romania Office Hamze Karimov`s role as important in expanding bilateral ties between the two countries.
Head of the Observation Council of the SOCAR`s Production Association “Azerkimya” Mukhtar Babayev noted he has already got acquainted with the working potential of the “Oltchim” Chemical Plant.
Babayev highlighted the importance of the readiness of the legal, technical and economic final results for the adoption of the decision on the project.
The SOCAR delegation then met Romanian Secretary of the State at the Ministry of Economy Mihai Adrian Albulescu.
Mihai Adrian Albulescu provided an insight into the Romanian energy sector, as well as the current state of and prospects for the AGRI projects.
The SOCAR`s delegation noted the importance of the Azerbaijan`s energy policy in ensuring Europe’s energy security, saying the State Oil Company has already gained the confidence of the European Union as a reliable partner.
SOCAR Vice-President of refining David Mammadov noted the SOCAR has the necessary infrastructure to start the project, saying there was great potential for the realization of this project in the Caspian region.
SOCAR Director of Romania Office Hamze Karimov noted such meetings would contribute to expanding energy cooperation between the two countries.
The SOCAR delegation then viewed the production activity and products of the “Oltchim” Chemical Plant in the city of Ramnicu Valcea.
The delegation also viewed construction work at the SOCAR Petrol Filling Station in Bucharest.
