TAJIK PRESIDENT RAHMON VISITS MILLI MAJLIS
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has today visited the Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan).
After familiarizing himself with the Parliament`s session hall, he viewed the Heydar Aliyev Memorial Hall and signed its Guest Book.
Then, the Tajik President met with Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov.
The Milli Majlis Chairman stressed the role of reciprocal visits in strengthening Azerbaijan-Tajikistan relations.
Ogtay Asadov recalled Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev`s March visit to Tajikistan, adding it was a success.
The Speaker said that his country places particular emphasis on the development of relationships with Tajikistan, and that documents signed during Emomali Rahmon`s current visit form a legal foundation for further enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Ogtay Asadov also stressed the role of parliaments in boosting the two countries` relations.
The Milli Majlis Chairman informed the Tajik President about Azerbaijan`s economic development and global energy projects that his country has been involved in.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mr. Asadov stressed the dispute should be solved only in accordance with international legal norms and the principle of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
The Speaker thanked the Tajik leader for supporting his country`s territorial integrity.
President Rahmon said Tajikistan has always attached great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan.
The Tajik President emphasized that Ilham Aliyev`s visit to his country this March gave a huge boost to the enhancement of bilateral ties.
Mr. Rahmon said he was impressed by what he has seen in Azerbaijan, including huge construction work and rapid development.
Emomali Rahmon said the two countries also successfully cooperate within international organizations.
He stressed he believes Tajikistan-Azerbaijan relations will further enhance in all areas.
