THE PRESIDENTS MEET IN PRESENCE OF DELEGATIONS
After the one-on-one meeting, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Abdullah Gul of Turkey were joined by the two countries delegations.
President Ilham Aliyev said:
Honorable Mr. President,
Distinguished guests,
I cordially welcome you to Azerbaijan.
We attach a great significance to your official visit to Azerbaijan. I am convinced that this visit and its outcomes will play a huge role in further development of friendly and brotherly relations existing between the two countries. We are very happy that Azerbaijan is the first country you are paying an official visit to as the President. This fact pleases us very much and indicates once again that our relationships are those of friendship and brotherhood, and that as close allies, Turkey and Azerbaijan will continue to take active efforts to develop their relationships in all fields.
As always, today we have exchanged views on a wide range of issues and discussed all aspects of our bilateral relations. I am confident that your visit, the talks to be held and the documents to be signed during your visit will push political, economic or any other field of cooperation to a much higher level. Welcome again to your homeland. I am sure your visit will be very successful.
President Abdullah Gul said:

Dear friends,
I am very happy and satisfied with being here in Baku today. I came here with my friends - ministers and a large group of Turkish businessmen. As the great leader, late Heydar Aliyev said “We are one nation, two states”, in other words, we came to a brotherly state. This is how we see Baku, Azerbaijan.
Since you gained independence, our relationships, our cooperation has reached a very high level. The fact that my visit coincides the 15th anniversary of your independence is of great significance too. I am one of the witnesses of the way Azerbaijan has passed for this period. Every time I come here, I feel a sense of pride and satisfaction while witnessing how Baku, Azerbaijan has changed. I am convinced our visit will breathe fresh air into our relationships. It will be an important opportunity to discuss both bilateral relations and the problems of our region.
You congratulated me on my election as the President and invited me to pay a visit here. I accepted the invitation, and it is my pleasure to pay my first visit to Azerbaijan. I think it is also an example to demonstrate that our relationships, our friendship is not simply declared but exist in our hearts and souls.
I thank you much for the sincerity shown to us.
