Turkish President Gül`s visit to Italy
Rome, January 30 (AZERTAC). Turkish President Abdullah Gul is on an official visit to Italy upon the invitation of his Italian counterpart Giorgio Napolitano.
An official welcoming ceremony was held, Wednesday, for President Gül and his spouse Hayrünnisa Gül at Quirinale Palace.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul met President of Italian Senate Pietro Grasso and visited Rome Municipality "Campidoglio."
Then, Gul moved on to meet Pietro Grasso, President of the Senate, the upper house of the Parliament of Italy.
Other attendees of the meeting were Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, Turkey`s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Mevlut Cavusoglu, Deputy Foreign Minister Naci Koru, a delegation of Turkish deputies along with Turkish Ambassador in Rome Hakki Akil, Secretary General of the Italian Senate Elisabetta Sarafin and Italian Ambasador in Ankara Giampaolo Scarante.
After his talks with Grasso, Gul proceeded to visit the Rome Municipality "Campidoglio" where he was welcomed with an official ceremony by Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino.
Turkish head of state held a meeting with Marino with the attendance of Babacan and Cavusoglu from Turkish delegation and the interim manager of Turkish National Footbal Team Fatih Terim, who trained the Italian clubs Fiorentina and Milan during 2000-2001 seasons.
Afterwards, Gul visited the Capitolini Museum in Rome with the accompanying delegation. The Turkish president will also attend a state banquet to be hosted by the Italian President Napolitano
