Azerbaijan Geology Institute of the National Academy in associate with the geology department of the US Michigan University carries out 2-year investigations on the Caspian.

The goal of the investigations is with the help of isotopes to study nutrition of flora and fauna of the sea in the deltas of the Azerbaijan Rivers on the Caspian.

Currently, the problem is being largely studied over the world and the researches for the first time are carried out on the Caspian. Field researches will start in spring 2006.

The US Civil Researches and Development Fund finances the project, the Azeri coordinator of which is doctor of geology-mineralogical sciences Chingiz Aliyev and prof. Baskaran Mark, the US University.
