WORKING GROUPS ON CASPIAN LEGAL STATUS TO MEET IN TEHRAN
Working groups on Caspian legal status on 15-16 April will gather in Tehran to discuss the matter.
Delegation of the Azerbaijan Republic is to be led by Khalaf Khalafov, head of the working group on Azerbaijani side.
The delegations will discuss the non-agreed terms of Convention to define the legal status of the Caspian. The talks are to be carried out on med-line principle.
All the agreements and contracts reached among the countries connected to the delimitation of the seabed are also base on the mid-line principle, Mr. Khalafov told a news conference, 14 April. Though the sides have different approaches on the matter, the major question is to reach common agreement, he stressed. “And the Tehran meeting is a next attempt to this.”
As is stated, in the framework of visit, also is planned to hold a bilateral meeting between Azerbaijan and Iran.
As of delimitation of borders between Russia and Azerbaijan, Mr. Khalafov said next discussions are expected to be held in Baku. Meanwhile, he noted some advance was reached in the last meeting in Russia.
