10TH ANNIVERSARY OF GUAM MARKED IN JORDAN
The embassies of the member countries of GUAM - Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - to Jordan held a reception to mark the 10th anniversary of GUAM in Amman, capital of Jordan.
The event gathered ambassadors of various countries, head of European Commission’s Office, representatives of international organizations in this country, Jordan’s officials and members of the Azerbaijani community.
Elman Arasly, ambassador of Azerbaijan, who presides over the organization, noted that GUAM member-countries have boosted cooperation in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields. He said, during 10 years, GUAM has turned into the international organization.
The ambassador also said GUAM develops relationships with other countries.
According to Arasly, GUAM-USA, GUAM-European Union, GUAM-Japan, GUAM-Poland relations bolster the organization.
Touching upon unsolved conflicts in the territories of GUAM member-countries, the Azerbaijani ambassador noted that his country supports peaceful resolution of conflicts in Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhasia, Southern Osetia, Transdniestrian based on the principles and norms of international law, as well as territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
Ambassadors of Georgia and Ukraine spoke about similar problems their countries face.
They also talked about GUAM’s activities, which, they stressed, are not targeted against any state.
