The number of foreign tourists doubled to 11.5 million in 2024 compared to 2023, according to Kazinform News Agency reports.

Revenues of accommodations jumped by 27% to 224 billion tenge. A large-scale project Kazakhstan Travel Guide involving Kazakhstani prominent personalities was successfully developed to promote the country’s standing in the global tourism market.

According to Deputy Tourism and Sports Minister Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, it is crucial to intensify work to attract foreign direct investments into tourism.

Following the session, those present defined further steps to boost the country’s tourism, improve the functions of Kazakh Tourism company, adopt new financing mechanisms, and strengthen the country’s position in the international tourism arena.

Kazakhstan plans to develop 119 investment projects worth 120.4 billion tenge by the year-end that will generate 1,319 jobs.

As reported earlier, Almaty region leads Kazakhstan’s tourism sector with a record of 1.6mln tourists.
