Candidates of Azerbaijani origin win seats in Swedish elections

The red-green forces led by Social Democratic Party leader Magdalena Andersson won the majority in the parliamentary elections held on September 13 in Sweden.
According to the preliminary results, they received 176 out of 349 mandates in the Riksdag (parliament), while the parties of the right bloc - 173.
The elections proved successful for several politicians of Azerbaijani origin who secured mandates at the national, regional, and municipal levels.
Aylin Nouri, Representative of the Social Democratic Party of Sweden, has again received a mandate as a member of the Riksdag.
Aida Karimli, representing the Centre Party, will take a seat in the Västra Götaland Regional Council and will also become an alternate member of the Riksdag. Turan Aliyev, her fellow party member, was elected to the Partille Municipality. From the Green Party (Miljöpartiet), Aytaj Guliyeva, joined the Haninge Municipality.
Representatives of the Moderate Party of Sweden (Moderaterna) Aygun Alakberova was elected to the Älvkarleby Municipality, and her son 18-year-old Rihad Alakberov won a seat in the Gävle Municipal Council.
Swedish general elections took place on September 13, when voters elected 349 members of the Riksdag, along with representatives to 21 regional and 290 municipal councils.
