4th Congress of Azerbaijani Women held in Baku
Baku, June 14 (AZERTAC). The 4th Congress of Azerbaijani Women has today taken place in Baku.
The congress, organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan, was held under the slogan “Unity for Development".
The congress focused on women`s rights, their participation in economic, social, and cultural life and role in ensuring gender equality.
The event was attended by representatives from all cities and regions of Azerbaijan, representatives from foreign countries, state and government agencies, NGOs.
Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev, Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Afandiyev, and rector of the Baku branch of the Moscow State University Nargiz Pashayeva.
Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova delivered a keynote speech. She said the event brings together 1,815 people.
She also stressed that Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva was honored with "Kharibulbul" award for her contribution to developing women`s movement in Azerbaijan.
Head of the Department on Humanitarian Policy at the Presidential Administration Fatma Abdullazade read out President Ilham Aliyev`s letter of congratulations to the participants of the congress.
