5th Gabala International Music Festival ends
Gabala, August 7 (AZERTAC). The 5th Gabala International Music Festival organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation ended on August 6.
Speakers at the closing ceremony included MP Fattah Heydarov, and artistic director of the festival, People’s Artist and rector of the Baku Musical Academy Farhad Badalbeyli.
Badalbayli said Gabala, one of the most picturesque corners of Azerbaijan, was home to music festival for 14 days. He noted participants expressed deep gratitude to the initiator of this grandiose musical event in Gabala, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva.
"The festival featured concerts of chamber music and orchestras, evenings of classical music as well as mugham concerts. The speakers thanked figures of arts, world famous musicians from 20 countries, acclaimed masters of the arts of Azerbaijan who pleased the audience with stunning performances. They called the festival a wonderful project and especially stressed that the musicians who arrived from different countries admired the local and foreign spectators. They expressed confidence that the festival would give a new impetus to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between countries.
The festival also became original demonstration of the nature of Azerbaijan, its hospitality, and music. The organization of the grandiose event was possible thanks to attention of President Ilham Aliyev to culture, art and art workers.
The festival closed with an impressive concert program of New Russia State Symphonic Orchestra. The concert featured performance of American violoncellist and conductor, artistic director of the festival Dmitry Yablonsky and acclaimed Russian pianist Boris Berezovsky.
