"Diwani Lughat al-Turk" international exhibition opens in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan hosted Friday the opening ceremony of "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" international exhibition as part of the 2nd meeting of the Council of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
The event was organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in collaboration with TIKA and the Turkic World Foundation.
Addressing the event, Akhtoty Rayimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation emphasized that the work "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" plays a significant role in uniting the Turkic world: "The magnificent work of the great scholar Mahmud Kashgari, created in the 11th century, is not just a literary monument; it reflects the identity of the Turkic peoples, our culture, and our traditions. It symbolizes the connection between generations.”
Adil Karimli, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture, Aida Balaeva, Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, Alibek Bakayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Gulbara Abdykalykova, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, Mustafa Kapucu Ambassador of Türkiye to Kazakhstan, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States, Shahin Mustafaev, President of the Turkic Academy, as well as other guests and media representatives attended the event.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the work "Diwani Lughat al-Turk", created by the outstanding Turkic scholar and thinker Mahmud Kashgari. The exhibition featured rare artifacts, historical manuscripts, and items reflecting aspects of the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples in the 11th century, as well as the clothing specially designed by the fashion designer Ece Karayel, inspired by the "Diwani Lughat al-Turk".
On December 13, 2024, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation organized the international conference "Mapping the World in Lexicography: The 950th Anniversary of "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" and an exhibition at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, marking the 950th anniversary of creation of the work "Diwani Lughat al-Turk" and its inclusion in the UNESCO anniversaries list for 2024-2025.
