ACTING PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA RECEIVES MINORITY REPRESENTATIVES
Acting President of Georgia Nino Burjanadze received representatives of minorities. Focused were mainly the problems of minorities, the ongoing processes in the country and forthcoming presidential elections on January 5.
Georgia’s force is in its multinational character and the government of Georgia takes care of the language, culture and education of minorities, Nino Burjanadze noted. She also underlined positive tendencies in interest of minorities to the state language, which, according to her, is a decisive factor in their integration to the society. The state is closely engaged in solution of the problems of minorities, she said.
Participants of meeting spoke of the existing problems, preparation for the upcoming elections.
Nino Burjanadze invited the minorities to more active participation in socio-political life of country, in particular, in the presidential elections, as expected, to be democratic and fair.
Head of the Georgian Azerbaijanis, editor-in-chief of “Gurjustan” (Georgia) newspaper Suleyman Suleymanov stressed necessity of such regular meetings, noting they would make their right and fair choice.
