ADA to host Conference on Mind, Society and Transformative Education
Baku, January 5 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) will organize a conference on Mind, Society and Transformative Education on January 6-7. The conference brings well-known education experts to Azerbaijan, including Dr. Eleanor Duckworth, renowned developmental psychologist, Professor (retired) at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
The conference is organized together with the Ministry of Education. About 70 secondary school directors, outstanding teachers and education administrators and policy makers will attend the conference.
The opening ceremony will feature key-note speeches on the topic of "Re-envisioning Learning, Teaching and Schools" by distinguished guests - Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of ADA, Dr. Patrick Quinn, Provost of ADA, Dr. Eleanor Duckworth, Renowned Development Psychologist, retired professor of Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Mr. Taher Gozel, businessman and philanthropist.
The conference will follow with speeches, discussions and Q&A sessions on the topics like "From “Learning About the World” to “Learning From the World”" by Dr. William Ayers, formerly Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and Founder of the Small Schools Workshop and the Center for Youth and Society, "School-in-a-box and RIVER Approach: the Global Scope of a Local Response" by Mr. and Mrs. Rao, co-founders of the of the School-in-a-Box Program and co-authors of the RIVER Methodology, "Talking with Trolls: a Creative and Critical Engagement with Students’ Nature-Naiveté" by Dr. Simon Boxley Senior Lecturer in Education, University of Winchester, "School, Curriculum, Educational Policy," Dr. William Ayers, formerly Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Founder of the Small Schools Workshop and the Center for Youth and Society, and many others.
