Asian Ombudsman Association meetings hails activities of Azerbaijan’s Ombudsman Office

Co-organized by the National Supervisory Commission of China and the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA), the 26th Meeting of the Board of Directors and the 18th General Assembly meeting of the AOA were held in the Chinese city of Nanjing.
Sabina Aliyeva, Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman), joined the events as the AOA Vice-President.
During the meetings, the report on the activities of the Association for 2024-2025, including the audit report, was approved, and the action plan for 2025-2026 was reviewed. The participants agreed to hold the 27th meeting of the Board of Directors in Hong Kong.
The Association’s Executive Secretary commended the activities the Azerbaijan's Ombudsman Institution, emphasizing that the Ombudsman's Office actively fosters international experience sharing through organization of trainings and webinars, enhancing member institutions' skills in specific human rights areas.
Recalling the visit of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman to the Association's Resource Centre established within the AOA Secretariat in Islamabad, the AOA Executive Secretary stated that the projects implemented at the initiative of Sabina Aliyeva play a crucial role in fostering regional cooperation.
Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva described the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) as a crucial platform protecting and advancing human rights in the Asian region, expressing Azerbaijan's unwavering commitment to actively participate in the organization's future activities.
She also highlighted the need for international cooperation through joint initiatives and webinars to share best practices in protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, preventing discrimination, and combating corruption.
