ATIB MEMBERS MEET TAX OFFICIALS

Baku, March 17 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan-Turkey Businessmen Association (ATIB) members met here with Tax Ministry`s officials Shamil Arabov, Bakhtiyar Abdulrahmanov, and Iftikhar Akhundov.

Businessmen were informed about the state taxes, registration of tax payers, tax check up, sanctions, rights of tax payers, and other issues.

Akhundov said some 6500 juridical entities were registered in Azerbaijan in 2008, up by 30 % over the 2007 figure. Last year, the ministry registered a total of 44,200 enterprises including 510 companies with foreign capital. Turkish entrepreneurs make up 40% of them.

Abdurahmanov said the information system for tax payers was created in line with IMF recommendations. Textbooks were given away to students and schoolchildren to raise their awareness about taxes.

Arabov gave insight into optimization of some taxation rates and steps taken to reduce impact of world financial crisis on Azerbaijan.
