Azerbaijan Army holds series of events marking State Sovereignty Day

A range of events was held across all types of troops, army corps, formations, military units, Combined Arms Army, and special military educational institutions of the Azerbaijan Army on the occasion of 20 September, State Sovereignty Day, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.
The events commenced with a tribute to National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and Martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.
At the events, the congratulatory message of Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov was conveyed to the participants.
Speakers noted that the concept of state sovereignty constitutes one of the fundamental foundations of every independent state. Accordingly, pursuant to the Order signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 19 September 2024, 20 September is observed annually in the Republic of Azerbaijan as State Sovereignty Day.
It was stated with a sense of pride that the ideas of National Leader Heydar Aliyev concerning the prosperous future of Azerbaijan are being successfully implemented by Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief and a worthy successor to his political legacy Ilham Aliyev.
During the speeches, it was emphasized that the Patriotic War in 2020 and the subsequent operations, constituted a historic mission that made an unparalleled contribution to sustainable peace, stability, and security in the South Caucasus.
It was further noted that State Sovereignty Day symbolizes the Azerbaijani nation's centuries-long struggle for independence and represents the restoration of the state's constitutional order throughout all of the country's territories, as well as the strengthening of national solidarity.
As part of the events, personnel of the Azerbaijan Army visited the graves of Martyrs, laid flowers, and paid tribute to their memory.
