AZERBAIJAN, BELARUS SIGN PLAN OF CO-OP
As is reported, the Defense Minister of Belarus Leonid Maltsev is on a 3-day official visit in Baku on the invitation of his Azeri counterpart Safar Abiyev.
The delegation led by Leonid Maltsev on 18 December visited the Alley of Honors to pay tribute to memory of the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
The guests also honored the Alley of Martyrs and laid flowers on their graves.
After ceremony of official welcoming, the Belarus and Azeri defense ministers met in private, after which they continued the meeting at the presence of delegations.
Colonel-general Safar Abiyev said the two countries successfully cooperate in many fields, including in the defense sphere. As underlined, this cooperation continues both on bilateral level and in the frame of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers. 
Touching upon the military-political situation in region, Mr. Abiyev said Armenia’s aggressive policy still hampers peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Mr. Leonid Maltsev said development of bilateral relations is in favor of both countries.
The parties had comprehensive exchange of views around the directions of military ties, prospects of cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
Finally, at the presence of Belarus Ambassador Nikolay Pastkevich, the parties signed Plan of Military Cooperation for 2008.
