Azerbaijan, Chile hold second round of political consultations

Santiago, the capital of Chile, hosted the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Chile.
The consultations were led by Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Patricio Torres, Chile's Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs.
The discussions focused on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Chile in the political, economic, humanitarian, energy, cultural, tourism, and other fields. The sides particularly expressed mutual support for establishing cooperation between relevant institutions to promote trade, business, and investment.
At the conclusion of the consultations, a memorandum of understanding on academic cooperation was signed between ADA University of Azerbaijan and Chile’s Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy.
The Azerbaijani delegation subsequently met with Paula Estévez Weinstein, Vice Minister of International Economic Relations at Chile’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The sides once again reviewed opportunities for promoting economic and trade relations between the two countries and highlighted the importance of implementing joint initiatives in this regard.
The delegation also met with Iván Moreira, Vice President of the Senate of the National Congress of Chile; Manuel José Ossandón, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; Senator Rojo Edwards, newly appointed Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Chilean Senate; as well as other members of the Friendship Group. During the discussions, the parties expressed support for promoting parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening cooperation on bilateral and international platforms.
As part of the visit, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered a presentation on “Azerbaijan’s Foreign Policy” at the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy.
