AZERBAIJAN HOSTS DAYS OF EGYPTIAN CULTURE
An opening ceremony of the Days of Egyptian culture was held Sunday at the Azerbaijan State Theatre of Song named after Rashid Behbudov.
The event was organized by the Egyptian Embassy in Azerbaijan jointly with the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Addressing the event, Department head of the Ministry Aligismat Lalayev updated the participants on the care showed by President Ilham Aliyev towards development of cultural ties between the countries.
He also told about services of the People’s Artist Rashid Behbudov to develop cultural ties between the two nations.
Egyptian ambassador to Azerbaijan Yusif Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Sharkawi recalled visits by national leader Heydar Aliyev’s to Egypt in 1994 and Ilham Aliyev in 2006 which gave impulse to developing ties between the two countries.
The speaker also noted that the park was reconstructed and monument of the outstanding statesman was set up in Egypt to show respect to Heydar Aliyev.
Head of the Egyptian Cultural Center Adel Darvish said the concert, exhibitions and other cultural events would be held within the days of Egyptian culture in Azerbaijan.
The event ended by the concert program of the Egyptian art workers.
Such events will also be held in Sumgayit city of Azerbaijan.
The Days of Egyptian culture will run till April 23.
