Azerbaijan, Japan discuss how to develop trade and economic cooperation
Tokyo, February 28 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and Japan have explored ways of improving cooperation in the fields of economy and trade as an Azerbaijani delegation had several meetings in Tokyo.
The meetings were held on the sidelines of a joint meeting of the intergovernmental economic cooperation commission and economic committee.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov.
The delegation first met Japanese Minister for Economic Revitalization, co-chair of the Japan-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Akira Amari. They praised relations between the two countries. They stressed the role of visits by national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to Japan in developing the bilateral ties.
Sharifov lauded the Japanese Minister’s contribution to improving links between the two countries. He praised the Japanese government`s investment in Azerbaijan as well as financial assistance to the country. They discussed prospects for developing cooperation in information and communication technologies sector.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. They hailed trade and economic cooperation. Sharifov put forward some proposals aimed at increasing trade and deepening bilateral economic collaboration.
