AZERBAIJAN, MEXICO SIGN TWO DOCUMENTS ON DIPLOMATIC COOPERATION
Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Maria de Lourdes Aranda Bezaury signed Friday in Baku a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Mexican foreign ministries and an agreement on cooperation between two countries` diplomatic academies. During a meeting prior to the signing ceremony, Mammadyarov and Aranda Bezaury discussed Azerbaijan-Mexico relations.
Elmar Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan is keen to develop relations with Latin American countries.
He said Azerbaijan holds an observer status within the Organization of American States, and also has diplomatic representations in Cuba and Mexico.
Mammadyarov said his country places particular emphasis on boosting its relationships with Mexico, and stressed the importance of holding bilateral political consultations.
On Azerbaijan`s conflict with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani FM said recently the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution once again recognizing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and reaffirming Armenia`s continuing occupation of Azerbaijani territories.
Maria de Lourdes Aranda Bezaury said Mexico supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
She stressed the necessity to continuously inform the world community about the situation in the region.
The Mexican Deputy FM said her country will soon open its honorary consulate in Baku.
She also emphasized the importance of using existing opportunities to develop bilateral relations in the fields of economy, energy and agriculture.
