Azerbaijan plans development of two gas fields at once for 2019
Baku, June 6 (AZERTAC). The endpoint of 2018-2019 promises to be a watershed in the history of Azerbaijani gas production as the country plans to begin development at two largest fields simultaneously.
President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev has stated that extraction of deep-laying gas on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli block can begin from 2019.
“We forecast gas reserves in ACG deep-laying strata at 300 billion cubic meters. Although usually organization of similar work takes 7-8 years, due to the detailed study of the preparation work on this block will not take much time,” Abdullayev said.
He added that the ACG agreement participants have been presented a draft of the contract for development of deep-laying gas. The contract was drawn up on type of risk service agreement.
BP Azerbaijan’s president Gordon Birell expressed the company’s readiness to begin with partners the gas production from Shah Deniz 2 already in 2018.
