AZERBAIJAN, TURKEY: INTERIOR TROOPS COOPERATE
Solemn ceremony was held on Thursday for the 10th anniversary of the signed protocol on mutual cooperation between the Command of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan and General Command of Gendarmerie Forces of Turkey.
Azerbaijan’s Internal Troops Commander, lieutenant general Zakir Hasanov, Head of Ataturk Center in Azerbaijan, Chairman of the MM Standing Committee on culture Nizami Jafarov, Chief of international cooperation department of Interior Ministry, colonel Mehrab Tukanov and others made statements at the ceremony.
They stressed national, cultural, historic, religious ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey would last forever.
The speakers said Turkey helped Azerbaijan during independent years to strengthen the statehood. They also noted special role of Turkish Armed Forces and Command of Gendarmerie Forces on army building of Azerbaijan as well as development and strengthening of Internal Forces.
It was noted, though first agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey was signed in 1992, the military cooperation between Azerbaijan’s Internal Forces and Turkey’s Gendarmerie Forces started in 1997.
Since that date Azerbaijani militants started to train at the training centers of Gendarmerie Forces.
Military attaché of Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan Fahri Kir said they are always ready to share the earned knowledge and experiences with Azerbaijani counterparts.
Fahri Kir underlined the successful continuation of cooperation between Azerbaijan’s Internal Forces and Turkey’s Gendarmerie Forces.
During the ceremony Fahri Kir and Interior Troops party counselor Avni Yildiz was awarded with special prize for their services on development of military cooperation between the similar agencies of two countries.
