AZERBAIJAN, U.S. SIGN ACTION PLAN ON MILITARY COOPERATION
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Defense Colonel General Safar Abiyev met Friday with visiting Army Brigade General William C. Mayville, Deputy Director of Strategy, Plans and Policy (ECJ5) of the United States European Command and John Craddock, United States Army General and NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe.
The Minister spoke of the current state and prospects of the strategic military cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States.
Colonel General Abiyev, who touched upon the situation in the region, as well as Armenia`s aggressive policy, said the international organizations and states interested in the settlement of the conflict must undertake decisive steps toward that. “Otherwise Azerbaijan will use its own capabilities to liberate the occupied lands”, the minister stressed.
Army Brig. Gen. Mayville said his country is keen on development of mutual relationship with Azerbaijan adding his country realizes the seriousness of the problem over Nagorno-Karabakh.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Safar Abiyev and Gen. John Craddock signed the Action Plan on Military Cooperation between Azerbaijan and the USA.
Also present at the meeting was US ambassador to Azerbaijan Ms. Ann Derse.
