Azerbaijan, Vietnam discuss prospects for development of relations
Baku, May 19 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Vietnam Anar İmanov has met foreign minister of this country Pham Binh Minh.
The discussions focused on the current state of and prospects for Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations.
The Vietnamese minister expressed confidence that Azerbaijan`s decision to open an embassy in Vietnam would contribute to development of bilateral relations. Pham Binh Minh noted his country attaches great importance to expansion of relations with Azerbaijan. He also underlined the necessity of strengthening political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
Ambassador Imanov said Azerbaijan-Vietnam cooperation had great potential and both countries should use it. According to him, the opening of Vietnam`s embassy in Azerbaijan would be an important step in development of bilateral ties.
The diplomat briefed the Vietnamese minister on the consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He expressed hope that Azerbaijan`s just position on settlement of the conflict would be supported by Vietnam.
They also discussed opportunities of facilitation of issuing of visas to the citizens of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani ambassador also met Vietnam`s National Assembly vice chairman Uong Chu Luu.
The talks focused on how to develop ties between the two countries` legislative bodies. They also exchanged views on opportunities of establishment of Azerbaijan-Vietnam interparliamentary friendship group in the Vietnamese parliament. The sides also discussed issues related to preparation of Uong Chu Luu`s visit to Azerbaijan which is planned to take place next month.
