Azerbaijani delegation attends 31st Global Fund Board Meeting in Indonesia
Baku, March 5 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani delegation is participating in the 31st Global Fund Board Meeting to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Jakarta, Indonesia from March 4-7, 2014.
The Private Sector has been represented by Board Member Paul Schaper (Merck/MSD), Alternate Board Member Renuka Gadde (BD) and members of the Private Sector Delegation (PSD).
The Board considers major decisions at the meetings, including the appointment of new members of Global Fund Committees on strategy, finance and ethics, as well as final steps to launch the Fund’s new grant-making approach immediately following the meetings. The Fund is expected to issue grants totalling more than $12 billion over the 2014-2016 period to fund the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria and help attain the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The PSD held a full-day pre-Board meeting on March 3 to discuss private sector positions on Board issues and meet with other Global Fund stakeholders.
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is an international financing organization that aims to attract and disburse additional resources to prevent and treat HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
