Azerbaijani delegation to participate in UPU session
Baku, April 25 (AZERTAC). Spring session of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) will be held on April 26-May 13 in Bern, Switzerland.
A delegation of Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies (MCIT) and Azerpocht LLC will participate in the session. During the event, a number of issues on international mail will be discussed and elections for some UPU bodies will be held.
Azerbaijani representatives will deliver reports on a number of projects implemented in the country`s postal sector with UPU technical assistance. As part of the session, Azerbaijani representatives will also exchange views with the leadership of this specialized UN organization on the prospects for cooperation. Moreover, Azerbaijan will be awarded the UPU gold certificate for services of express mail delivery (Express Mail Service - EMS).
By order and with financial support of the UPU EMS Cooperative, independent consulting companies work on testing and assessment of EMS services provided throughout the year by all operators around the world. Then results are announced and certificates are granted. Azerbaijani EMS operator - Azerekspresspocht has been awarded UPU Gold Certificate for consecutive five years.
Azerbaijan is a member of both UPU higher authorities - Administrative Council and Postal Operations Council, which enables the country to actively participate in all UPU activities, to make its contribution to common work and perform all tasks and responsibilities undertaken before the UPU.
