Azerbaijani delegation visits Brussels
Baku, Aug 30 (AZERTAC). A delegation led by the Minister of Economic Development, Chairman of State Commission for Azerbaijan’s Integration to Europe Shahin Mustafayev visited Brussels under the invitation of European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, Mustafayev held meetings with the EC Vice-President, EU Commissioner responsible for Transport Siim Kallas, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule and Vice President of the European Investment Bank Wilhelm Molterer.
In the meeting with Kallas, Mustafayev underlined importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project, informing about transport projects implemented in Azerbaijan and the region. Mustafayev also said that full regional development is possible after liberation of Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenians.
Mentioning stabilizing role of Azerbaijan in the region, Commissioner Kallas said that EU supports Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
In the meeting with Mr. Fule, current situation and development prospects of Azerbaijan-EU relations, extension of cooperation links were discussed. Fule stressed that Azerbaijan is an independent and reliable partner for EU and it supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Fule especially said the visit of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Brussels in June to made tremendous contribution to EU-Azerbaijan relations.
Mustafayev spoke about investments of EU countries in Azerbaijan’s economy. He also noted that the future development of the region depends on settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of international law, as well as relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
During the meeting, Mustafayev and Fule signed Financial Agreement on EU-Azerbaijan Action Plan.
Mustafayev and Vice President of the European Investment Bank Wilhelm Molterer signed Frame Agreement regulating European Investment Bank’s activity in Azerbaijan.
