AZERBAIJANI DEPUTY DELIVERS REPORT TO PACE SESSION
Participants of the PACE summer session heard on 23 June the report by Azerbaijani deputy Naira Shakhtakhtinskaya on Honoring of obligations and commitments by Bosnia and Herzegovina. The report reflected elections held in the country in October 2002, implementation of economic reforms, as well as democratic development and laws adopted.
The session has also discussed the “Role of Women in Conflicts Prevention and Settlement”. In this connection, member of the Azerbaijan delegation Rafael Huseynov told of the women’s situation in the country saying that 70% of over one million refugees from the Armenian occupation are women and children, who have been living in tents both during severe winter and under the burning sun for ten years, bear children; many of them fall sick under the hard condition and lose the happiness of being a mother. He proposed active involvement of women of Azerbaijan and Armenia in the peace process.
