AZERBAIJANI DEPUTY FM MEETS WITH HIS AFGHAN COUNTERPART
Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov met September 14 with Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Kabir Farahi.
K. Khalafov said Afghan Leader Hamid Karzai`s official visit to Azerbaijan was an important step towards development of bilateral relations.
Deputy Minister Khalafov stressed the need for Azerbaijan-Afghanistan cooperation in fighting international terrorism, illegal drugs turnover and trafficking in humans
Mr. Khalafov briefed Afghan official on the regional and international projects that Azerbaijan has implemented so far.
According to him, by developing the non-energy sector, Azerbaijan strengthened its positions in the world and became a regional leader.
Mohammad Kabir Farahi said his country is keen on enhancing cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Deputy Minister Farahi told of the Afghan government`s actions in the political, economic and cultural spheres. He called on both government and companies of Azerbaijan to take part in the rebuilding of Afghanistan.
He said Afghanistan is going to acquire Azerbaijan`s experience. Afghan official pointed out there is an enormous potential to strengthen humanitarian and cultural cooperation between the two countries. Farahi stressed a need to form the Azerbaijan-Afghanistan intergovernmental commission.
